GUANGCHANGWU
Movement, music, community and culture
from China’s public squares to the world.
What is Guangchangwu?
Guangchangwu (广场舞) is a form of Chinese group dancing that connects movement, music, exercise, public space and community. It is practiced — often daily — in parks, plazas and residential open spaces across China, and increasingly in Chinese communities around the world.
It is not the partner-based American folk dance called square dance. Chinese square dancing, or guangchangwu, is a music-led group fitness practice.
